Story

In August 2023, the WuXi AppTec content team interviewed Professor Li Yu, scientific founder of Migrasome Therapeutics, about the originality, translational potential and development strategy of migrasome biology.

Professor Yu explained that the company’s foundation comes from the team’s long-term, systematic and original research on migrasomes. As newly recognized organelles, migrasomes offer a broad frontier for studying biogenesis, physiological functions and disease relevance—and a new biological starting point for innovative medicines and technology platforms.

The interview outlined the company’s 3R strategy. READ focuses on analyzing disease through changes in migrasome abundance and composition and on identifying potential biomarkers. RECTIFY explores key molecules that regulate abnormal migrasome production or function. REBUILD uses engineered migrasomes for drug delivery and was one of the company’s most advanced areas at the time of the interview.

Under REBUILD, the company is developing an engineered migrasome delivery platform for diverse cargo classes, including small molecules, macromolecules, nucleic acids and antigens. Migrasome Therapeutics also emphasizes collaboration across academia and industry, including its participation in the Roche Accelerator in China.

The company will pursue migrasome applications through original research and open collaboration.
