Story
On October 12, 2024, Tsinghua x-lab published a team story on Migrasome Therapeutics and its effort to translate migrasome biology into an engineered drug-delivery platform.
The article explains that migrasomes mediate local and long-range exchange of biological materials and signals between cells and can carry proteins, nucleic acids and other cargo. Building on the properties of natural migrasomes, the team developed an engineered migrasome, or eMig, delivery system to explore new solutions to challenges in targeting, cargo loading and scalable production.
Because the field offered no mature technical platform to copy, the team began with the fundamentals of production, purification and quality control. Through continued experimentation and iteration, the company established efficient eMig production technology, completed initial development of production quality-control methods, advanced small-molecule and nucleic-acid loading, and built a tumor-immunology research platform.
The feature also introduces a multidisciplinary team spanning academic science, company operations, investment and drug development, as well as the support provided by Tsinghua’s technology-transfer and innovation ecosystem.
Migrasome Therapeutics looks forward to working with more academic and industry partners to validate and apply engineered migrasome technology in additional settings.
